How did we build an app that makes Riigikogu data more easily accessible?

The Riigikogu publishes a lot of useful information about its work – votes, attendances, speeches, bills and other statistics. But the structure and presentation of this information is not always designed with the end user in mind.

That’s why we created an app that brings this information to people simply, quickly and clearly.

What was the goal?

We wanted to create a tool that helps people to follow the activities of the Riigikogu and where it is easy to find and understand the data.

What does the app do?

  • Displays the attendance of members and political groups at meetings
  • Shows votes and participation in different drafts
  • Brings out how much each member has spoken and asked questions
  • Visualises activity with clear graphs and tables
  • Allows you to filter data by time period and fraction.
  • And much more

All data come from official sources and are updated regularly.

Technical solution

The application is built on top of Angular to ensure speed and a smooth user experience on both mobile and PC.
The Java server runs in the background, pulling data from the open API of the Riigikogu.
